Suntory Toki Music Bars

As part of our continued efforts with Suntory USA to brand and position their various Whiskey products globally, we produced a social-first campaign to build the culture and community around the brand with concept of ‘Old Meets New’. We worked with a suite of bars and bartenders to tell stories of culture, craft, and drink.
Music Bar Series
The Toki Music Record Bar series takes us behind the scenes of the iconic and most unique records bars on the scene in Japan. We highlight the distinct experience, ambiance and sounds of each location, feature a Toki specialty cocktail and work with the bar owner to curate a specialty playlist for the Suntory Toki Spotify Channel. Each post includes a CTA to connect the sound with the visual and textual story for a more sensory experience.
The Music Bar Cave
The Music Bar -CAVE SHIBUYA-, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is known for its exceptional sound quality and carefully curated collection of over 3,000 analog records. The bar features vintage record players and high-end ANNOY Westminster Prestige speakers, ensuring an immersive music experience. The interior boasts an industrial design with brick and wood elements, creating a spacious and comfortable atmosphere reminiscent of Brooklyn's warehouse districts. The Music Bar Cave Shibuya also offers a selection of premium cocktails.

Owner, Takeshi Kobayashi, is the soul of The Music Bar Cave Shibuya. Just like Toki, he blends nostalgia with modern craftsmanship, curating the bar’s record collection and overseeing his own farm to provide fresh ingredients for the menu. His vision revolves around harmonizing music, cuisine, and beverages for visitors.

Akai Heya
Situated in the heart of Shibuya, Japan, Akaiheya is a dynamic fusion of restaurant and bar, where music, Toki whisky, and delectable Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes) converge. Whether you're into jazz or city pop, Akaiheya is a haven for creative minds, drawing musicians, architects, and Toki highball enthusiasts alike.

When it comes to drinks, AY San of Akaiheya tells us “Highball orders definitely take the lead. Patrons both old and young find common ground in their love for great music and the timeless allure of a Toki Highball." It's a beverage that embodies simplicity, refreshment, and, above all, consistency—an enduring choice that remains unwavering amid the ever-evolving urban backdrop of Shibuya.

Spincoaster Music Bar
Tucked away in the backstreets of Shinjuku, Spincoaster Music Bar is a cozy hideout where vinyl culture thrives. With records curated not just by staff but also by customers, each night offers a unique sonic journey—from mellow jazz to underground hip-hop. High-resolution speakers deliver crisp, full-bodied sound, while the analog warmth of vinyl invites deeper, longer listening. Paired with a Toki highball and playful record-shaped coasters, the space feels like a modern-day listening room fused with the casual energy of a Tokyo night out.
Founded by Jun Hayashi, Spincoaster Music Bar was built on the idea of bringing people together through music. “Revitalizing communication through music is part of our philosophy,” he explains—and that ethos lives in every groove and conversation shared over the counter. More than just a bar, it's a community hub for crate diggers, music lovers, and anyone chasing that perfect track to soundtrack their evening.

Bar Ahirusha
Bar Ahirusha, hidden on a quiet street in Kagurazaka, is a sanctuary for those who appreciate the harmony of great music and expertly crafted cocktails. With warm lighting, wooden interiors, and shelves lined with vinyl, the space feels both nostalgic and modern—a reflection of owner Shuhei Okamura’s vision. His curated selection of soul, jazz, and rare grooves plays through vintage speakers, creating a rich, enveloping soundscape that complements every sip.
"I wanted to take both music and cocktails seriously,” says Okamura, who blends the spirit of a true audiophile with the precision of a seasoned mixologist. His bar challenges the norm in Tokyo’s nightlife scene, offering a rare balance of sonic depth and refined drinks. Toki’s smooth profile pairs effortlessly with the ambiance, making Bar Ahirusha the kind of place you find yourself returning to—where each visit feels like discovering a new favorite track.

Musium Record Bar
Musium Record Bar, located in the heart of Roppongi, reimagines what a music bar can be. With sleek industrial interiors and futuristic design cues, it feels like stepping into a sound-forward sanctuary. Home to an estimated 100,000 analog records, its collection is as vast and storied as a museum archive. “We opened Musium because vinyl has such a strong presence in Tokyo,” says manager Kajiwara. Every detail—from the custom shelving to the high-end audio equipment—is designed to create an immersive listening experience, where each track resonates with intention.
Toki Highballs here are more than just the go-to order—they’re part of the ritual. “The most common drink is the highball,” Kajiwara notes, “but I love introducing people to new ways of enjoying whisky.” Guests are invited to take part in the experience through a playful marble request system, where they can select genres or decades, making each visit feel collaborative and fresh. Musium isn’t just a bar—it’s a dynamic fusion of analog nostalgia, future-facing design, and hospitality that grooves to its own beat.
