what we did

The Warriors and Wizards played two preseason games in Japan on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2, 2022, at Saitama Super Arena, site of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics basketball events. These were the NBA's first games outside North America since COVID-19 began and its first Japan visit since 2019. To build hype, poweredby.tokyo produced a short video featuring BTS's Suga and captured the NBA after-party in collaboration with Hennessy, aiming to stimulate mainstream interest in the NBA Japan games.

BTS SUGA X STEPHEN CURRY

poweredby.tokyo successfully captured exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of BTS member Suga's collaboration with the Golden State Warriors, navigating high-security constraints with a lean, two-camera production team. Our agile crew documented Suga's NBA experience, including Warriors practice visits, interactions with star players like Stephen Curry, and his surprise front-row appearance at games. The resulting 1-minute video offered fans an intimate glimpse into this unique cultural crossover, generating significant social media engagement and strengthening connections between BTS's global fanbase and the NBA. This project showcased our ability to deliver compelling content in challenging, high-profile environments while meeting strict security requirements.

HENNESSY GAME BOOTH

Hennessy, as the NBA's official spirit, made a significant impact at the NBA Japan Games 2022 presented by Rakuten. This event marked the league's highly anticipated return to Japan after a three-year hiatus.

poweredby.tokyo captured the electric atmosphere and fan excitement through Hennessy's brand activation at Saitama Super Arena. We documented the custom-built Hennessy bar and photo booth, which attracted both general attendees and VIP guests. Our team produced compelling 1-minute and 20-second video cuts, showcasing the pre-game anticipation and in-game energy. These visuals effectively highlighted Hennessy's presence and underscored the brand's seamless integration with the NBA fan experience in Japan.

Our team produced compelling video content, including 1-minute cuts of both the in-arena activation and the after-party. These visuals showcased Hennessy's seamless integration with the NBA fan experience, highlighting the brand's commitment to celebrating team spirit and bringing people together. By documenting both on-court excitement and off-court festivities, we effectively communicated Hennessy's role in bridging the creative energy of basketball with social celebration, reinforcing the brand's position as a key part of the NBA's global community.
